The announcement was made Tuesday by the publisher, Random House/Princeton Review.
鈥淲e consider UL Lafayette one of the best institutions a student could attend to earn an MBA. We selected the schools we profile in this book 鈥 280 of which are in the U.S.A. and 16 are international 鈥 based on our high regard for their academic programs and our reviews of institutional data we collect from the schools,鈥 said Robert Franek, Princeton Review senior vice president-publisher.
鈥淲e also solicit and greatly respect the opinions of students attending these schools who rate and report on their experiences at them on our 80-question survey for the book.鈥
The Princeton Review鈥檚 survey asked 19,000 students at the 296 schools their opinions of their school鈥檚 academics, student body and campus life as well as about themselves and their career plans. The student surveys analyzed for this edition were all completed online and conducted during the 2011-12, 2010-11 and 2009-10 academic years.
Students cited UL Lafayette鈥檚 MBA program for its 鈥渃ozy college atmosphere鈥 and a faculty that 鈥渞eally cares about the students.鈥
Dr. Joby John, dean of the B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration, said that personal attention is one of the MBA program鈥檚 hallmarks. 鈥淒r. Bob Viguerie, the program鈥檚 director, gives every student individualized attention,鈥 he said.
鈥淭he Best 296 Business Schools鈥 has two-page profiles of the schools. They include write-ups on academics, career and placement, student life and environment, and admissions. The profiles also have ratings for academic experience, admissions selectivity, and career services.
In the profile of UL Lafayette鈥檚 B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration, the Princeton Review editors note that 鈥渃onvenience and local reputation鈥 attract most graduate students to the MBA program.
鈥淪tudents at Moody report that the school has a 鈥榞reat reputation in the computer sciences鈥 and is 鈥榯he best and closest鈥 when it comes to the health care industry. In fact, ULL offers an MBA with a concentration in health care administration, an appealing option to the area鈥檚 many health care professionals,鈥 the annual guidebook states.
The Princeton Review does not rank the schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 296, or name one business school best overall. Instead, the book has 11 ranking lists of the top 10 business schools in various categories.
